1866: Folded letter, with contents dated 13 August, franked with two pairs of ½ r. ultramarine, one with slightly bluish "wash" to paper, the second paper distinctly blued, each with four chiefly large margins, the left-most pair touched at lower right, tied by Guayaquil c.d.s. (11 Aug) to Chavez correspondence cover to Lima, prepaying the rate to neighbouring countries for a letter under 1 ounce, endorsed per steamship "Peruano", with Lima c.d.s. (18 Aug) arrival backstamp, a beautiful and extremely rare franking. Provenance: Collection "Crown Point", Corinphila, Zurich, 8 October, 2001, lot 6690, the right-most pair described as "the only recorded copy on greenish paper and in this combination unique"
