'TORONTO' ...more 1940 envelope from addressed to Market Harborough cancelled 'TORONTO' machine d/s 'MAY 28 1940' The stamp washed off. Carried on the "S.S. Eros" which was torpedoed by a German Submarine U-48 of the Nrorth West Coast of Ireland on June 7th. Straight line 'SALVED FROM THE SEA' applied in violet

1940 envelope addressed to Market Harborough cancelled 'TORONTO'
slogan d/s 'MAY 28 1940' Stamp washed off. The envelope was carried
on the "S.S. Eros" which was torpedoed by a German submarine on
June 7th off the coast of North West Ireland. The envelope is
marked in red pencil "DAMAGED BY SEA WATER" Possibly applied by the
Irish Post Office in Dublin

MAR 35' Fine three line 'Met Hr.Ms K XV111/Vervoerd van Buenos
Aires/Naar Tristan da Cuhna' On arrival Type 5 cachet applied
forwarded to Cape with the 'Met Hr.Ms.K XV111/Vervoerd van Tristan
da Cunha/Naar Kaapstad' both cachets applied black. A superb strike
of the Submarine mail bag seal on the front. A rare combination
with few recorded examples
